Staff Positions:

CORE Leader (Coaching-Organizing-Relating-Encouraging)

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Scan for cell phone use, roaming/unsupervised campers, undocumented visitors, and unaccompanied children using the restroom at all times.
  • Join the activities of groups in your age bracket on a rotating basis throughout the day. “Play”
    with every group during the day, so you can really observe how things are going.
  • Support and assist group staff with difficult discipline issues.
  • Record serious problems or repetitive discipline issues on incident report forms and submit to
    the Assistant Director of Group staff.
  • Support group staff by:
    • Coaching by giving feedback and direction.
    • Helping to Organize needed supplies or program ideas.
    • Affirming the relationships between the counselors in each group as they work as a
      team, help them work through Relational issues with their peers.
    • Encouraging them when they are struggling and praising them when they are doing a
      great job.
  • Communicate with the CORE leaders from other age groups if you see inappropriate behavior
    from someone under their supervision. If that CORE leader is not available or if the problem is
    serious, please report the incident directly to the Assistant Director of Group Staff or the Camp
    Director immediately.
  • Participate in 360° feedback as an employee evaluation method.
  • Meet with other CORE leaders and the Assistant Program Director of Group Staff every
    Wednesday for lunch to plan and address any issues.
  • Eat lunch with the groups assigned to you on a rotating basis every other lunch period.
  • Take a 15 minute break during the day, but not during lunch time.
  • Assist with car line dismissal. No one can leave until all campers have been picked up (with the
    exception of someone who is running late).
  • Before leaving camp for the day, check to make sure group staff picked up trash and “lost and
    found” from their fencepost area. Also, make sure they are distributing the items from their
    group tub at the end of the day. Bring lost and found to the chapel and empty tubs on Fridays.
    Make sure your staff and campers are participating properly in assemblies ex. Not talking
    during the flag ceremony, etc.
  • Participate in one overday.
  • Submit your daily report before leaving camp.

Archery Specialist

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Open car doors in the AM at 8:30 sharp.
  • Provide program and try to tie your specialist programming into the theme for the week using
    varying targets, decorations, or prizes.
  • Teach, model, and monitor proper use of archery equipment.
  • Attend Monday morning specialist meeting and bring prepared planning sheet of the weekly
    activities.
  • Put away all archery equipment at the end of the day into the shed.
  • Before leaving camp for the day, check to make sure all trash has been picked up in the archery
    area (have the campers do this for you before they leave your area) and dispose of the trash in
    the dumpster.
  • Teach electives during free archery blocks.
  • Submit purchase requests one week in advance or be prepared to shop for the item using petty
    cash funds.
  • Return the cooler to the Dining Hall.
  • Eat lunch with the group assigned to you.
  • Take a 15 minute break during the day after you eat lunch with the group and before your next
    block starts.
  • Participate in Opening and Closing ceremonies-you may be participating in skits-Help keep the
    campers herded in close to the flag pole.
  • Assist with car line dismissal. No one can leave until all campers have been picked up (with the
    exception of someone who is running late).

Nature Specialist

  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.

  • Provide engaging program.
  • Try to tie your specialist programming into the theme for the week using subjects that relate to the theme to encourage interdisciplinary education.
  • Attend Monday morning specialist meeting and bring prepared planning sheet of the weekly activities.
  • Teach electives during free nature blocks.
  • Submit purchase requests one week in advance or be prepared to shop for the item using petty cash funds.
  • Put away all nature equipment at the end of the day.
  • Before leaving camp for the day, check to make sure all trash has been picked up in the nature area (have the campers do this for you before they leave your area) and dispose of the trash in the dumpster.
  • Keep the nature hut organized and swept.
  • Eat lunch with the group assigned to you.
  • Take a 15 minute break during the day after you eat lunch with the group and before your next block starts.
  • Participate in Opening and Closing ceremonies-you may be participating in skits-Help keep the
    campers herded in close to the flag pole.
  • Assist with car line dismissal-process passwords. No one can leave until all campers have been picked up (with the exception of someone who is running late).
  • Submit your daily report before leaving camp.
  • Assist Nicole with Friday Festival cleanup on Fridays.
  • Participate in 360° feedback as an employee evaluation method.
  • Never use your cell phone, unless you are bringing a group on a hike. Keep it in your car.
  • Make sure group staff has picked up Epi-pens from the Health Office prior to hikes.
  • Inform the director of all hiking times and trail locations prior to departure.
  • Participate in one overday.
  • Help plan one Friday Festival.

Senior Counselor

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Be responsible for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well being of six to ten campers.
    throughout each week, and help maintain standards that lead to a quality program.
  • Be an active participant-If you are engaged, your camper will be engaged! If you need a
    breather, cheer from the sidelines.
  • Strongly encourage children to participate. Do not offer alternate activities for specialist areas.
  • Teach two electives per day under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Electives
    Share a brief devotional with your campers Monday – Thursday (Provided by the chapel
    director).
  • Clean up after electives and bring supplies & equipment back to the elective director.
  • Take attendance and a lunch count each morning. MAKE SURE EVERYONE HAS A LUNCH!!
  • Hand out all art projects, “lost and found, “ and camp mail from group bin at PM flag.
  • Keep children from talking during the flag ceremony and encourage participation during the
    assembly time. Keep your campers sitting close to the flag pole.
  • Enforce the rule of three: Any time a camper needs to go to the bathroom or the nurse, they
    must be accompanies by another camper and an LIT or staff member.
  • Go to your CORE leader for guidance on discipline issues.
  • Eat lunch at the assigned lunch location and dispose of all lunch trash in the dumpster.
  • Stay with your campers till they are through the pool dressing room. Once they are through
    the door, rotate with other staff to create three 15 minute blocks:
    • 15 minutes sitting by the pool edge & scanning the pool surface- no talking during this
      time.
    • 15 minutes sitting close to the pool doors and watching for campers who need to
      use the restroom. Always go into the pool locker room in groups of three to protect
      yourself. Do not allow a camper to go into the room with supervision.
    • 15 minutes on break.
  • Participate in Opening and Closing assemblies by leading your campers in the flag ceremony
    and leading group singing once or twice a week.
  • Before leaving camp for the day, check to make sure all trash has been picked up from your
    fence post (have the campers do this for you before they leave your area) and dispose of the

Assistant Director of Group Staff

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Scan for cell phone use, roaming/unsupervised campers, undocumented visitors, unaccompanied children using the restroom at all times.
  • Serve as the Parent Liaison which includes handling phone calls where parents are checking on their children and making phone calls about discipline issues.
  • Take over discipline issues that are severe in nature or that cannot be resolved by the group staff or CORE leaders.
  • Assist CORE leaders with staff issues and report the need for group changes to Director.
  • Make sure all groups are applying sunscreen, taking bathroom breaks and Trading Post visits at the scheduled time.
  • Read the group staff dailies and make sure that the director knows about any notable situations.
  • Signal to group staff when to start Opening and Closing Flag Ceremonies- 9:00 AM & 4:10 PM.
  • Oversee two Overdays.
  • Meet once a week for lunch with the leadership team on Tuesday.
  • Meet with CORE leaders once a week for lunch to go over any concerns (Wednesday).
  • Shadow groups on a rotating schedule to make sure things are going well.
  • Oversee bus arrivals and departures, LITs help kids find their groups.
  • Participate in 360° feedback as an employee evaluation method.

Arts & Crafts Specialist

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Open car doors in the AM at 8:30 sharp.
  • Provide engaging program.

Lifeguard

  • Responsible for keeping the pool area and bath house free of “lost and found” and trash.
  • Participate in the daily vacuuming of the pool by pool staff.
  • Report to the Pool Director for direction.
  • Teach, model, and monitor proper use of art equipment and supplies.
  • Put away all pool equipment at the end of the day.
  • Before leaving camp for the day, check to make sure all trash has been picked up in pool area (have the campers do this for you before they leave your area) and dispose of the trash in the waste baskets.
  • Eat lunch with the group assigned to you, except on Tuesdays when you have lunch with pool staff.
  • Take a 15 minute break during the day after you eat lunch with the group and before your next block starts.
  • Submit your daily report before leaving camp.
  • Never use your cell phone. Keep it in your car.
  • Participate in 360° feedback as an employee evaluation method.
  • Participate in one overday after 6:00.
  • Help plan one Friday Festival.

Sports Specialist

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Open car doors in the AM at 8:30 sharp.
  • Provide program and try to tie your specialist programming into the theme for the week using a new sport each week that relates to the theme-see programming document.
  • Teach, model, and monitor proper use of sports equipment.
  • Put away all sports equipment at the end of the day into the sports shack.
  • Keep the sports shack organized and clean.
  • Submit purchase requests one week in advance or be prepared to shop for the item using petty cash funds.
  • Teach electives during free Sports blocks.
  • Before leaving camp for the day, check to make sure all trash has been picked up on the sports field (have the campers do this for you before they leave your area) and dispose of the trash in the dumpster.
  • Attend Monday morning specialist meeting and bring prepared planning sheet of the weekly activities.
  • Eat lunch with the group assigned to you.

  • Return the cooler to the Dining Hall.
  • Attend Monday morning specialist meeting and bring prepared planning sheet of the weekly activities.
  • Eat lunch with the group assigned to you.
  • Take a 15 minute break during the day after you eat lunch with the group and before your next block starts.

Office Assistant

  • Address incoming paperwork and computer entry detail.
  • Assist with answering the phone if receptionist is busy.
  • Sort and count lunch tickets with lunch supervisor.
  • Process incoming registrations and additional service requests.
  • Print daily bus lists.
  • Answer phones on Overday evenings.

POOL Director/PM Extended Day

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Responsible for overseeing pool staff, the pool area and bath house.
  • Give feedback and correction to pool staff as needed.
  • Plan pool programming and swim lessons.
  • Make scheduled water tests and maintain the pool log.
  • Submit purchase requests one week in advance or be prepared to shop for the item using petty cash funds.
  • Manage “lost and found” items and cleanup of the bath house and pool deck.
  • Oversee daily vacuuming of the pool by pool staff.
  • Required to open the pool for extended day and Overday free swims.
  • Reports to the Assistant Director of specialists for programming related issues.
  • Reports to the CPO with pool maintenance issues.
  • Teach, model, and monitor proper use of pool equipment and supplies.
  • Put away all pool equipment at the end of the day.
  • Before leaving camp for the day, check to make sure all trash has been picked up in pool area (have the campers do this for you before they leave your area) and dispose of the trash in the waste baskets.
  • Attend Monday morning specialist meeting and bring prepared planning sheet of the weekly activities.
  • Have lunch on Tuesday with Pool staff to plan and talk about issues.
  • Submit your daily report before leaving camp.
  • Participate in 360° feedback as an employee evaluation method.
  • Participate in one overday after 6:00.
  • Help plan one Friday Festival.

Adventure Specialist

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Provide team-building program and try to tie your specialist programming into the theme for the week using an adventure activity in conjunction with imagination to bridge the activity.
  • Teach, model, and monitor proper use of adventure equipment.
  • Open car doors in the AM at 8:30 sharp.
  • Put away all adventure equipment at the end of the day into the new shed.
  • Keep the shed organized and clean.
  • Submit purchase requests one week in advance or be prepared to shop for the item using petty cash funds.
  • Teach electives during free adventure blocks.
  • Before leaving camp for the day, check to make sure all trash has been picked up from your adventure area (have the campers do this for you before they leave your area) and dispose of the trash in the dumpster.

  • Assists staff on deciding which electives will run which period or whether some electives will run both periods if interest was high, but space is limited, ex: leather.
  • Keep elective supply area picked up and organized.
  • Submit purchase requests one week in advance or be prepared to shop for the item using petty cash funds.
  • Directs staff with the planning, execution, and cleanup of Friday Festivals.
  • Monitors staff interaction with the campers during elective periods and will give feedback as needed to the group staff.
  • Make sure materials for the elective activities are ready and in stock, ordering if necessary.
  • Oversee two Overdays.
  • Help lead flag assemblies.
  • Meet once a week for lunch with the leadership team.
  • Meet for lunch for the staff on the Friday Committee once a week on Wednesday.
  • Participate in 360° feedback as an employee evaluation method.

Assistant Director of Specialists

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Specialists will report to you with a sheet recording their programming plans on Monday morning.
  • If plans are not sufficient, assist them in researching and implementing programming ideas give Specialists feedback as necessary.
  • Check every evening to make sure specialists have cleaned up and put away equipment.
  • Assist Assistant Director of Electives with the Friday Festival preparation and cleanup.
  • Keep track of Gold Star Group winners. Get prizes and pass them out at PM flag on Friday.
  • Oversee two Overdays.
  • Oversee arrivals and departures of Car riders, specialists assist opening car doors.
  • Watch flag from the rear and make sure children are staying with the group, participating, etc.
  • Make sure staff is doing the same.
  • Read the Specialist dailies and let the Director know about any concerns or supplies needed.
  • Shadow specialists on a rotating schedule to make sure things are going well and to assist with activities.
  • Meet once a week for lunch with the leadership team on Tuesday.
  • Participate in 360° feedback as an employee evaluation method.

Lunch Coordinator

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Count lunch tickets in the AM for a lunch count.
  • Prepares water coolers for field locations.
  • Prepare lunch.
  • Fill lunch orders.
  • Creates a shopping list for the lunch food.
  • Keeps the kitchen clean and disinfected.
  • Handles lunch issues for counselors.
  • Wash lunch trays and clean and replenish condiment bags for next day.
  • Make extra ice for Overday.
  • Cut watermelon and make lemonade for Thursday Overday.
  • Assist with Trading Post sales during the busy hours after lunch has been served.

LIT Director

  • Teach and model Godly characteristics to campers & staff at all times.
  • Carry out and enforce established rules and safety regulations of camp.
  • Be responsible for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well being of 30 LITs throughout each week, and help maintain standards that lead to a quality program.
  • Take attendance and a lunch count each morning. MAKE SURE EVERYONE HAS A LUNCH!!
  • Teach daily educational lessons defined by the Director for one block each day.
  • Assign LITs to groups.
  • Observe LITs in group setting by walking around and observing group interaction.
  • Have group staff fill out a weekly review on the LIT participant.
  • Write your own review and outline goals for LIT for the following week. Meet with them on Friday to give this feedback.
  • Submit purchase requests one week in advance or be prepared to shop for the item using petty cash funds.
  • Submit your daily report before leaving camp.
  • Never use your cell phone while at camp. Keep it in your car.
  • Participate in 360° feedback as an employee evaluation method.
  • Oversee LITs at as many Overdays as possible.
  • Coordinate four to five LITs to work Overdays.
